Maybe these quotes from "The Quotable Cat" selected by Denise Little, will give you a clue:
Cats invented self-esteem; there is not an insecure bone in their bodies. Erma Bombeck
The smallest feline is a masterpiece. Leonardo Da Vinci
If animals could speak, the dog would be a blundering outspoken fellow, but the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much.
Mark Twain
When it comes to the advantages of cats versus dogs as pets, there is no competition. Try going away for a weekend, leaving your German Shepherd alone with a bowl of dry food, some water, and a litter box.
Robert Stearns
No amount of time can erase the memory of a good cat, and no amount of masking tape can remove his fur from your couch.
Dogs come when they're called; cats take a message and get back to you.
Missy Dizick and Mary Bly
A cat will be your friend, but never your slave. Théophile Gautier

Here are a few descriptive words for the cat:
neat and clean
quiet
scare easily
suspicious
sly
hate water
can't be lead around
will not fetch...only as it desires
meows and hisses and purrs and howls
tail wags sideways if angry
stealth

Can you think of others? What is your cat joke or story??
Vicki,
ReplyDeleteThis had me laughing! I really enjoyed these cat quotes...especially Mark Twain's. This is so true! Well written!
I'm glad it made you smile today, Daisy! Yes, cats are a unique animal...but they give us great cause to write poems, stories, and jokes about them. Thanks for stopping by...
DeleteI'm so jealous! I absolutely love cats, but I'm highly allergic. Love the pictures.
ReplyDeleteNew follower here. I’m enjoying reading my fellow “A to Z”ers. I look forward to visiting again.

That is frustrating, Sylvia, although my Ragdolls supposedly do not have dander to cause allergies. It works for us... Thanks for stopping by and following. Enjoy the challenge!
ReplyDeleteAw, I'm more of a dog person...but your cat pics made me smile!
ReplyDeleteThen tune in tomorrow, Nicole...you will be able to relate. Glad you liked the photos. Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the challenge...
DeleteCats are a complete law unto themselves, which is probably what is appealing about them. Looking forward to teh rest of your A-Z posts.
ReplyDeleteEbby
You are so right, Ebby...don't I know it! Thanks for stopping, and enjoy the remainder of the challenge...
DeleteI love them. I'm a total cat person even though we have a dog right now.
ReplyDeleteStay tuned for tomorrow's blog, then, Laura. Thanks for stopping by...enjoy the challenge!
ReplyDeleteThese quotes are all wonderful! I especially like, "the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much."
ReplyDeleteVery happy to meet you, Jarm. I saw your comment just now on my Golden Movies post, C for Chinatown. Put a cat in THAT movie, and hmmm. I can see it scowling all the way through it!
Ann Best, Author of In the Mirror & Other Memoirs
Thanks, Ann, for your words of encouragement...yes, cats are in a 'cat' agory of their own. Good to meet you, too, and I appreciate your visit to my blog....happy posting!
DeleteI left a comment, but somehow it didn't come up!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, what I said was I'm happy to meet you. I saw your comment on my C for Chinatown post just now and came over to see you.
My youngest daughter LOVES cats. My disabled daughter likes them too. My favorite quote (above) is: "the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much." Put a cat in the movie Chinatown and hmmm -- it would probably scowl all the way through it and we wouldn't know why!

I liked the reference to your daughters, so, I included this comment as well!
DeleteMy cat Izzie can be quite bitchy but I do love her. ;) She follows me everywhere, probably because she knows I'm her food source. I have a lot of funny cat pictures on Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/jenlanebooks/funny/
ReplyDeleteI'll check out your link, Jennifer...I'm always looking for clever photos. Cats know what's good for them, don't they? Thanks for stopping by to comment. Enjoy the challenge!

Nothing like cat fur to make my nose itch! But I love them from a distance :)
The hair issue is a problem...and Ragdolls are not supposed to shed! Thanks for visiting, Brianna, and enjoy the challenge!
DeleteLOL! Brianna :D
DeleteWe love our cantankerous cat, Minnie. Our favorite story is the daily dog/cat "fights". Every time the dog tries to play with her she feigns disinterest, then attacks the unsuspecting dog as he walks away. I just don't get why he still turns his back on her.
ReplyDeleteHow funny, Jenn...you wonder how the dog puts up with it day after day. I guess that is why dogs are so faithful to their masters! Thanks for your comment and story...
DeleteI'm a cat person so I enjoyed your post to the fullest. I mean, I love dogs, they're sweet and loving and loyal, but there's something about cats that is special. They are friends but do not hover nor depend on you. I truly like their graciousness and cat jokes never get old.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!

Gina, I think I would prefer cats to dogs as well...for that very reason. Thanks for stopping by!
